The FreeStyle Libre 2+ and 3+ are wearable continuous glucose monitoring systems that automatically send real-time glucose readings to your smartphone every minute —no fingersticks and no scanning required. Both sensors wear on the back of the upper arm for up to 14 days and trigger customizable high and low glucose alarms before values reach critical levels. The key difference is data storage: the Libre 3+ retains up to 14 days of readings within the sensor itself, while the Libre 2+ stores up to 8 hours — both are otherwise comparable in accuracy, connectivity, and day-to-day use. Up to 14 days of history can be reviewed in the LibreView app to identify patterns and support better long-term management.
Are the FreeStyle Libre 2+ and 3+ covered by Medicare or Medicaid?

Who is the FreeStyle Libre 2+ and 3+ appropriate for?
The Freestyle Libre 2+ and 3+ are approved for adults and children ages 4 and up with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes who require insulin or have a history of hypoglycemia.
How long does each sensor last?
Each sensor is approved for up to 14 days of continuous wear before replacement is needed.

No. Both the 2+ and 3+ stream readings automatically every minute and require no fingerstick calibration or manual scanning.
What devices are compatible with the FreeStyle Libre 2+ and 3+?
The LibreLink app is available for compatible iOS and Android devices. Your care coordinator can confirm whether your current phone is supported before your order is placed.
What is the difference between the Libre 2+ and Libre 3+?
The main difference is on-sensor data storage. The Libre 3+ stores up to 14 days of glucose readings within the sensor, while the Libre 2+ stores up to 8 hours. The Libre 3+ sensor may also be slightly slimmer. Both stream readings automatically every minute with no scanning or calibration required.
